I was told this could only be done on dedicated or virtual private servers; obviously this is not the case.
However I don't know how you would get the webserver to restart (one of the diretions for installing Zend or ionCube) on a shared package without restarting it for all other hosts on that server - which I would hope would not be allowed as that would mean I could SSH in and shut down the httpd for everyone.
Maybe I don't understand the virtual hosting architecture correctly though...?
You do not need to reload the configuration. It reloads on every page load or something like that. Just edit the php.ini, place it in to the same directory as your index.php and there you go.
APC is awesome - i have played around with the trial version and it seems to do pretty much everything i want it to. And am basically ready to get the full paid version.
I have thoroughly tested APC 1.3 with J!1.0.13, CB1.1 as well AEC 0.12.4 Phew! All seems to be working fine!
One thing though and i am thinking this would be more of a feature request than anything else...
I have one user type that doesnt require approval by admin at registration - but I have another type that i would prefer to approve after they register.
Thing is I am not sure if this would be a feature request for APC or AEC?
this would be great if only it had any support. It seems that Mikko has disappeared off the face of the earth and due to the Zend factor those that have bought his product are stuck with something that cannot be activated or reactivated
