Hashtags appear to be working perfectly fine. Maybe you're clicking or pressing space after having typed the hashtag and not allowing the insert box to display? I've left the test post for you to verify. Searching on it also works.

Maybe it's some kind of local setting. As you can see, after your hashtag I posted one and started posting another one, with insert box not working.
I tried with Chrome (on two pcs and one mobile) and Edge, same thing.
Press F12 to open your browsers developer tools then click the Console tab. Refresh the page then try again and see if there are any errors in the console tab (they'll be colored red). Does this work fine on our demo site below?

Very weird. I don't see how this could possibly be device dependant. Are you clicking away before giving it a chance to pop up? Type #hashtag then wait.
