When "No output" is enabled the module does only use elements to create the floating box. Maybe it is the site template that overwrites some of the style definition.
You can try to change the "Module Class Suffix". Maybe that helps. When not you have to debug the output with Firebug.

As I thought, it seems as though my site template is injecting borders and margins around the module position. Will have to set some specific css conditions for the box. Managed to hide it in an inconspicuous location for now. Thanks for the response.
@Spaatz I had the same problem in the header. But I had it only in InternetExplorer and JomSocial profile. Cause of problem was to big css file from JomSocial. Internet Explorer only reads a certain number of lines in css. My solve was RokGZipper from rockettheme. If you have Gantry framework, you can also activate Gantry GZipper. Now I have no more empty spaces. Maybe it can help you too.
