Joomla 3.9.23 is here - a security and bug fixes release!

The Joomla project team has recently released version 3.9.23 as security and bug fixes release.

Joomla 3.9.23 fixes 7 (low priority) security issues and over 35 bugs and improvements.

Community Builder 2.4.7 (latest build) and all Joomlapolis add-ons work just fine with Joomla 3.9.23. You can see everything in action on our demo site.

Joomla 3.9.23 is a recommended upgrade for all Joomla sites - you should upgrade.

As always, before any Joomla upgrade on your live website, take a backup just in case anything goes wrong.

CB Paid Subscriptions (CBSubs) 4.5 is here with 20 new features and 15 bug fixes!

CB Paid Subscriptions (CBSubs GPL) 4.5 is a features and bug fixes release that streamlines and modernizes the payment experience.

The main features in this release are:

• Completely redesigned modern checkout user experience
• Compact basket display
• Redesigned billing address editing
• New selection of payment method and credit-card form (with new icons)
  
• Ajax powered coupon handling
• Stripe gateway improvements (new payment methods, ability to change payment method for recurring subscriptions, and more)
• iDevAff coupon code support

CBSubs 4.5 is available in our Downloads section and simply requires an active subscription to CBSubs. It is a highly recommended upgrade and works great with latest CB 2.4.7.

Note that the CB Paid Subscription menu at top of administration area have been moved from CB to CBSubs in CB 2.4.7 and CBSubs 4.5.0. This means that you might need to adjust the CB Admin module setting as described in Kyle's forum post.

Community Builder 2.4.7 can be freely downloaded by all registered members

We just released Community Builder 2.4.7 with 9 new features and 14 bug fixes!

The main new features (full CB 2.4.7 changelog) include:

• Name format options with First Name Only, Last Name Only, First Name and Last Initial, First Initial and Last Name, First and Last Initial settings.
• Randomly generated usernames for fallback option will generate Joomla required username
• Password unmasking feature has been added - this way you no longer need extra verify password field
• New profile edit tab vertical layout has been implemented
• Updated Bootstrap to version 4.5.2
• Support for latest MySQL 8.0.17+

Community Builder 2.4.7 is a recommended upgrade for all CB sites.

Our demo website has already been updated to Community Builder 2.4.7, so you can see it in action along will all our Joomlapolis add-ons.

As always, you should first test on a cloned environment before upgrading your production site.

Looking ahead to Community Builder 2.5!

With the future CB 2.5 release, simultaneous support for Joomla 4.0 and Joomla 3.9 will be achieved using updated CB libraries. This will make future upgrades from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 easy. In order to achieve this and be able to use modern PHP language techniques and future PHP 8 compatibility, we are issuing now an advance notice of end of PHP 5 support starting with the upcoming CB 2.5 release. Going forward, the new minimum PHP version will be same as that of Joomla 4, namely PHP 7.2.5.

Joomla 4.0 beta 4 and Joomla 3.10 alpha 2 are here

The fourth beta of the Joomla 4.0 just got released, along with the second alpha of Joomla 3.10.

Joomla 4.0 beta 4 with over 100 bug fixes compared to beta 3 and many additional improvements is yet another step in the Joomla 4 development process.

We are excited by Joomla 4's improvements and are advancing really well on the Community Builder adaptations for Joomla 4. We have now an internal build that runs on both Joomla 3.9 and 4.0 beta 4. This feature will make the upgrade of Community Builder sites running on Joomla 3.x to Joomla 4 much easier.

You can take Joomla 4 beta 4 for a spin using the launch.joomla.org site or you can just download and install on your local or hosting environment. Make sure you help the development process by submitting any issues you identify on the Joomla tracker site.

Joomla 3.10 alpha 2 is a bridge release. You can update your current Joomla 3.9 website (best to clone first) to Joomla 3.10 a2 and then upgrade to Joomla 4 b4. This way you will be able to test run your website on Joomla 4.

The Joomla team is also reaching out to third-party (extension and template) developers to provide feedback regarding cross release compatibility. The CB Team has started testing our Joomlapolis addons and is providing feedback to Joomla too.
