Joomla 3.4 and Community Builder 2.0.7 are ready to help you
do more with your websites.

The Joomla 3.4 release introduces the following key new features:

• easier front end editing for your modules
• a lighter distribution with the decoupling of weblinks
• composer integration to help developers be more productive
• improved spam protection with Google new reCaptcha (already supported in CB AntiSpam)
• security improvements by implementing UploadShield code which can detect most malicious uploads by examining their filenames and file contents.

Joomla 3.4 is a minor version that preserves compatibility and should in most cases be a simple and easy upgrade.

To upgrade from Joomla 2.5/3.3 to Joomla 3.4 you can use the built-in Joomla update functionality but first make sure that all your installed extensions and templates are compatible. If you are updating form Joomla 2.5 then our Migrating from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3 tutorial is a great resource for your upgrade project. Updating from Joomla 3.3 to 3.4 is simple and easy - just like upgrading from any Joomla 3.3.x release to 3.3.x+1. As always, start the process by taking a - just-in-case - full backup

Community Builder 2.0.7 addresses 6 minor identified bugs (see discusson on forum for details), of which one fixes the installation of CB as an upgrade on the new Joomla 3.4 release, which introduced an additional check on the package.

To upgrade to CB 2.0.7 all you need to do is use the Joomla Extensions Update functionality or simply download the CB 2.0.7 package and install. You can do this before or after your Joomla 3.4 upgrade.

Paid members can download CB Gallery 1.0.2 from the Advanced Download area

The new CB Gallery add-on for CB 2.0.6+ is here and it supports photos, files, videos and music media items.

Your users will just love the new look and feel as they will be able to organize all their multimedia content on the 4 new user profile tabs (Photos, Files, Videos, Music). Each tab can have unlimited albums and users can easily organize their content giving them distinctive titles and descriptions. Plus everything works great on all viewing devices (desktop, tablets and mobile phones).

Here is a list of key features available:

• Everything is mobile ready
• 4 tabs (Photos, FIles, Videos, Music)
• each tab can have unlimited albums (folders)
• each album can have unlimited items
• folders and items are editable with gear icon popup menu
• folder names and item names are searchable
• photos are clickable to reveal full size image in popup lightbox
• file upload sizes can be configured for all items and allowed extension types can be configured for file items
• limits can be imposed on number of folders and number of media items
• moderation and captcha can be enabled for folder creation and media items
• item linking can be enabled separately for each media type (only Youtube linking currently supported for video items)
• backend folder and item management support lets your administrators add new folders or upload new media for users or edit existing items

A file folder album lets your users upload their files and share them with other users.

Your users will be able to create unlimited music albums on their profile pages.

This new CB Gallery add-on replaces the previous CB Profile Gallery plugin and gives your users so much more.

When you install CB Gallery for the first time on your CB 2.0.6+ website it will automatically detect and migrate all CB Profile Gallery items that finds. This way your user uploads will remain intact in this new super-clean environment.

The Next Generation Community Builder 2.0.0 was released 4 months ago. Since then we have been working on many fronts to reaffirm operational robustness and security, to increase our add-ons compatibility level and to help our worldwide users discover and take advantage of the tremendous flexibility offered in this new social networking platform. So we can with confidence state that:

It is time for everyone to fully embrace the Next Generation Community Builder 2.0.

During these past months we have made:

• 5 point releases of CB - we are now at Community Builder 2.0.5 (CB 2.0.6 is in progress)
• 11 previously commercial add-ons were rewritten and released as part of the Free Community Builder
• 21 add-ons have been completely rewritten/updated for CB 2.0 compatibility and over 30 maintenance releases for these have been issued
• our 4 Joomla templates have been upgraded for CB 2.0 compatibility and now use bootstrap
• CBSubs 4.0 RC1 is available for CB 2.0 (and CBSubs 4.0 stable is almost ready)
• A new awesome CB Gallery is in progress and is almost ready for release

In addition to the above we have:

• been releasing nightly builds with work in progress fixes for our major projects (CB, CBSubs, CB Auto Actions)
• established a new Language area on Joomlapolis and Transifex for CB and our add-ons and we are pushing new language plugins every week
• compiled over 50 video tutorials with hands-on simple explanations to help users quickly take advantage of CB 2.0 and key add-ons.

What's left is:

• the new CB 2.0 Primer documentation in the form of a PDF document (50% done)
• new CB Gallery 2.0 (in progress)
• new CB Activity 3.0 (to start right after CB Gallery release)
• new CB GroupJive 3.0 (complete rewrite in progress)
• CBSubs GPL 4.0 stable release (in progress)

You can get started with the existing versions that continue to function just fine on CB 2.0 and just easily upgrade to the latest releases when they are available.

There is no reason to wait for these last in progress releases. Community Builder 2.0.5 is very stable and fully compatible with the latest Joomla 3.3.6 (and upcoming Joomla 3.4) and very easy to upgrade from previous CB 1.9.1 installations. Therefore, all our maintenance efforts will be focused entirely on the CB 2.0 series.
