It is documented that MooTools 1.1 (which is used by Joomla 1.5) does not support multiple users. MooTools 1.2 does and works fine in Joomla 1.0 (you can enable this) but it is not compatible to Joomla 1.5.

Many thanks for your time and your amazing component

I just downloaded the latest version of uddeim (1.5) and have installed it over the previous version I was using (1.4). Now the autocomplete does not start at all

I tried forcing the mootools 1.2 as I am using joomla 1.0, but doesn't matter. the use autocomplete is enabled in the backend. in fact the page source shows the following javascript (note I am using sh404sef, it didn't matter when I had 1.4 installed):
