For the text field where the user types in the message, how do I make this bigger (wider and taller)?

A drop-down of the user's connections appears when the user is composing a message.

When the user selects a connection from the drop-down, the username of the connection is not put into the "To" field. Should it not? Currently, the user has to type the username even though he selected a connection.

Could you please be more specific regarding setting the _uddeim_emn->status=1

I'm not sure I understand when entries in _uddeim_emn table are created

Have you switched off javascript? I not, could you check the error console if there is a javascript error?

Entries are created when a user uses uddeIM the first time.

You can update the fields using
UPDATE `jos_uddeim_emn` SET status=1 ;
