It is working now. Perhaps running the SQL query the second time fixed it, but I am not 100% sure. At this point, I doubt I could duplicate the issue for you :(

Just wondering: could caching have been playing a role here? I usually leave it switched on to improve speed, but I thought caching didn't affect logged-in users.

Maybe, I do not recommend using caching since I had some problems in the past, too (not with uddeIM but other components).
