Nevermind - figured it out - very confusing!
Basically, what's happening is that a message is being sent to the administrator account on the back-end, and then I turned on the feature to receive email messages when a system messages comes in to the mailbox on the back-end, so that's where this message is being generated from. But the fact that it says its a private message made me think of uddeIM...turns out its a built-in feature that is just worded pretty poorly...
