I was having the same problem and tried all these solutions, but nothing worked. So, I deleted the entire com_comprofiler folder and reinstalled and that fixed it for me. It didn't delete anything from the database, but I did have to reinstall the plugins. I didn't have the Captcha plugin or public mail. Maybe its something to do with permissions not overwriting the updated files? Anyway, that's what worked for me.
