Furthermore, in some months we will have to upgrade to Joomla 1.8. So, probably it will be the best to hope for a dissolution of the problem in course of this upgrade. Meanwhile, we can live with an interim solution, I think.

If the problem is in CB and plugins, it probably won't dissolve anytime soon. Check the code base for CB in regards to Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.7 support. In short, just because you move to Joomla 1.8 doesn't mean the CB bugs will dissolve. Your best chance of finding people to fix CB bugs is if you use Joomla 1.5, along with accompanying modules and plugins.

Here's why. Joomla 1.5.8+ is still very much alive. Jfusion supports it, and not Joomla 1.6 and beyond. JoomFish too.

The first thing that MUST happen, if there is to be any dissolution of said bugs from "advances in Joomla", is a wholesale exodus from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.8. That means, all tech, such as Jfusion and JoomFish and such, must aggressively port their products to Joomla 1.8.

During such a port, there will be NEW bugs, "porting bugs" if you will. After a few months of porting, the ports will stabilize, and "porting bugs" will vanish.

Only after that, will people be inclined to dissolve the bugs you found. Why? Because it is harder to fix "compounded bugs". Bug fixers can never be sure that a bug is NOT a "porting bug" instead.

I would advise you to start implementing your website on a local server, with Joomla 1.5 and all. At least we can fix the bugs you found if we go with Joomla 1.5, since you use Jfusion. Bear in mind that many tools currently still only use Joomla 1.5. You may search for a full list of "why we don't port to Joomla 1.6 or 1.7 yet" discussion threads.

Joomla 1.8 will be too different from Joomla 1.5. All the accompanying modules and plugins (Jfusion, JoomFish, etc) will take some time to do the port, and even more time to fully utilize Joomla 1.8 features.

Moreover, fixing bugs and missing features in Joomla 1.5 is not any different from upgrading to Joomla 1.8 and "dissolving bugs". In fact, the former strategy is even more reliable. Newer Joomla versions will mean newer bugs.
