I just wrote a blog for the joomla.org site about the potential of Joomla 3.2.
I was well aware that lately many of the third party developers I know have been spending lots of time contributing to Joomla. Beat from the CB Team has been very active in the JUX team and in the Joomla app-store team. I have been hearing lots of excitement from many different people about the nice things being implemented for Joomla 3.2.
I decided to get involved and thus my joomla.org blog contribution and my video preview of the app-store.
After researching the current status of the Joomla features tracker, I quickly came to the conclusion that Joomla 3.2 has awesome potential as there are many fantastic new features knocking on Joomla's 3.2 front door.
With over 70! features in 'Ready for review' or 'Pending' status, Joomla 3.2 has many heavy-hitter features lined-up for its release.
You can check out all 70 features on the Joomla Features tracker - my 'magnificent seven' list is:
- Content versioning for Joomla articles and article categories - video preview
Saving and restoring versions of Joomla articles has been a very much requested feature that is ready for review, - App store (new name pending) - video preview
Browse and install Joomla extensions (JED listings) from your Joomla website administration panel. - JUX Team imporvements - video preview
Many usability improvements for Joomla that will make things friendlier with less clutter. - Two factor authentication for Joomla
Extra security for Joomla logins with two factor authentication using one-time password technology. - Joomla Rapid Application Development (RAD) layer.
This new layer will make extension development easier and should help foster new Joomla extensions. - Ajax Interface for Joomla
Introduces Ajax interface in Joomla that can be used by Joomla extensions. - Improved Template Manager
New Template Manager with file management and editing built in to help clone and modify Joomla templates right from your Joomla administration panel.
There is always need for your involvement - this is the only way to make things happen. The Joomla project needs your help designing, coding, testing and documenting. I am closing this blog with a statement I included in my joomla.org community blog:
Join the Joomla! Bug Squad (JBS) and help the testing process. If you are a Joomla user and rely on Joomla for your websites, then help yourself now by helping to test features and code that you will be using tomorrow. The more we test, the more new quality features will get into Joomla 3.2. |

The Joomla! project has released 2 security releases for its current Joomla 2.5 LTS (long term support) and Joomla 3.1 STS series.
Both Joomla 2.5.14 and Joomla 3.1.5 (why did we go from 3.1.1 to 3.1.5 ?) are security builds that address a critical level security issue.
All Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.x websites are higly recommended to upgrade and also all existing Joomla 1.5 websites need to patch their websites.
Community Builder 1.9 works just fine with these new releases.

Joomlapolis and the CB Team have been faithfully contributing to make Joomla better.
During this year's JAB 2013 international conference CB Team member - Beat gave a very inspirational lightning talk presentation titled "Joomla!, Wow!" (starts at 15 min mark) about bringing back the warm and fuzzy feeling to Joomla. The presentation touched upon user interface improvements and overall Joomla user experience.
Last week in Manchester, UK the Joomla User eXperience (JUX) Team held a 2 day code sprint where a team of community members and developers contributed their skills and time to implement user interface improvements for the upcoming Joomla 3.2 release.
Beat was invited and joined the JUX code sprint to work within an elite team of Joomla lovers to code many improvements to the Joomla 3.2 interface and help bring back the Wow! to Joomla!.
The JUX sprint code force initially focused on quick win improvements that will make things less confusing for the new first time Joomla user.
Simple things like not showing language selections in various administrator areas of Joomla if only one language is installed will make things look clean and friendly for both the experienced and brand new Joomla user. This concept of hiding/showing elements and user interface options to keep things clean and less confusing has been extended in other user interface areas.
A series of cool frontend editing improvements have also been added to make Joomla content (article, module, menu) editing easier and more powerful.
Brian Teeman (also a code sprint participant) recorded this 6 minute video with some of the highlights of the JUX improvements we should expect to see in Joomla 3.2.

Not one, two or three, but eight social networking sites are supported with the latest CB Connect 5.0 release!
Let your users sign-up and login to your website using credentials from any one of the following social networking sites: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Windows live, Googe +, Instagram, Foursquare or GitHub.
This is by far the most complete social networking integration solution available for Joomla (1.5, 2.5 and 3.x) / CB (1.9) as it not only supports login and registration using credentials from 8 social networks, but it also lets you:
- store social networking profile data in Community Builder fields
- place users in Joomla ACL groups based on social network
e.g., users signing up using Instagram can be placed in Registered and special Instagram group - override Community Builder workflow settings
e.g., users signing in using their Foursquare credentials are automatically confirmed not needed moderator approval - redirect new users to page based on social network
e.g., Github credential signups are redirected to a special welcoming page
You can also integrate the following social network specific applications as CB fields on your user profiles:
- Facebook social plugins (comments, facepile, like-recommend-send buttons, activity feed and recommendations)
- Twitter widgets (tweet and follow buttons)
- Google plugins (+1 and share buttons and Google badge)
- Linked in plugin (shared button)
CB Connect 5.0 is available to all Professional and Developer members and as of today it is also available to Advanced members replacing the CB Facebook and CB Twitter connect plugins which are now discontinued.
