Overview
The CB Team has identified a number of issues with Joomla 3.6.0 and the upgrade process.
SQL Error during upgrade
In some cases during the upgrade process you might see the following error:
1062 Duplicate entry '437' for key 'PRIMARY' SQL=INSERT INTO `#__extensions` (`extension_id`, `name`, `type`, `element`, `folder`, `client_id`, `enabled`, `access`, `protected`, `manifest_cache`, `params`, `custom_data`, `system_data`, `checked_out`, `checked_out_time`, `ordering`, `state`) VALUES (437, 'plg_quickicon_joomlaupdate', 'plugin', 'joomlaupdate', 'quickicon', 0, 1, 1, 1, '', '{}', '', '', 0, '0000-00-00 00:00:00', 0, 0), (438, 'plg_quickicon_extensionupdate', 'plugin', 'extensionupdate', 'quickicon', 0, 1, 1, 1, '', '{}', '', '', 0, '0000-00-00 00:00:00', 0, 0);
This means that the database upgrade failed.
You can recover by following these steps:
- From your Joomla administrator area Extensions -> Manage -> Database
- Click on the Fix button
You should be able to reinstall Joomla 3.6 (not needed but recommended) by clicking on your Joomla is up to date link in your Control panel MAINTENANCE area (left column) and then reinstalling (you might need to click on the Clear Cache button first).
Unable to Install Extensions
After your upgrade to Joomla 3.6 you might not be able to install other extensions. Instead you will see in your Joomla -> Extensions -> Manage -> Install area a message:To recover from this you need to follow this process:
- Acces the menu item: Joomla -> Extensions -> Manage -> Discover
- Select all discovered items (click their checkbox)
- Click on the Install button
- You should now be able to go back to your Extensions -> Manage -> Install page (see previous screenshot) and click on the Plugin Manager link (in the yellow message box) to find and enable the previously not installed plugins.
