Unable to Import Users was created by gtxb
Hi there,

I have the latest version of Community Builder on my website and I cannot Import Users.

The website is running Joomla 3.9.22, my ISP is running Lynux with PHP Version 7.4.3 and MySQL 5.6.41

I can Export users without issue, and when I try to import nothing happens, it just returns to the User List without any sort of error message.

Have used the Help Button to access documentation and there is nothing there regarding Import or Export of Users and all the images of the User List do not show the Import/Export Buttons, so I assume this documentation is yet to be updated. Thus I did a search for unable to import users and found some entries on the forum however, all these spoke about specific on screen error messages, of which I get none.

Two main solutions were offered - incorrect file format and importing too many users.

I have carefully checked the file I have created against the original file exported and they are formatted exactly the same. I do this by changing them to a text file and comparing data.

I am trying to import 112 new users, so I cut the file in half and then in half again with the same result.

I am opening the csv file using Excel for Mac and save it as a standard csv file.

I have attached a modified version of my csv file however, changed it to a txt extension to attach. Have changed the names of the users.

File Attachment:

File Name: users_export.txt
File Size:1 KB

Export 1 user then attempt to reimport that 1 user without touching the file. My guess is when you're editing the file you're not importing the CSV correctly. It uses the following rules.

1. Character set: UTF-8
2. Separated by Comma
3. Format quoted fields as text
4. " as string delimiter
