Help! Fields are not hidden on profile was created by adwmiedge
I need seven fields excluded from the user profile. Each are configured to hide on the profile, but they still show up when the user uses the Edit Profile link. What needs to be done so these only appear on the registration page?

Settings Used

Required : No
Show on Profile?: No
Display field title in Profile?:No
Searchable in users-lists?: No
User Read Only?: No
Show at Registration?: Yes
Published : Yes

They show up only during edit mode, right?

The will not show up in frontend profile viewing.

Yes, that is correct. The show up when editing the profile only.

So its working as designed.

You can place that field in a tab that is published for admins and it will not appear during frontend editing then.

Or you can use CBSubs tab-field protection also (read CBSubs documentation for this).
