send messange to "filter by filed" users

It's possible to send messages separeted by type of users?
For example: I want to send message only to students, but not for teachers (for a school community)

You can send to Joomla groups only. Another posibility is to create contact lists.

I have only 2 joomla groups: registered and administrator.
In contacts only can add one by one (very hard work!) and no possible to filter this list by field (how can I know who is student and teacher?)
