No no, I would much rather have the proper settings. I may just not be versed enough in php to understand the entire picture here.
Here is what I know. I am in Detroit (-5:00) along with all my site's target users. The webserver sits in California (-8:00). If I set Global settings to be (-8:00) as suggested by Joomla help documents, all aspects of the site are in PST. If I change that setting to (-5:00), article creation and modification are correctly timestamped to EST.
When I installed uddeIM earlier this week (which is wonderful), I noticed that all messages were timestamped 8 hours behind EST (UTC -11:00). That is when I posted here on this forum and found your help.
I am realizing as I'm writing this post that this solution really doesn't work due to the fact that we are currently in Daylight Saving Time and that come November another change would be required.
I am going to do some more research on time settings in Joomla, I have never had an issue till now.
Your help is greatly appreciated and any other suggestions are welcomed.
