Error 500 when I send a system message

my site www.portalesalsero.it has 2000 registered users and when I send a system message, after 2 minutes the server returns a 500 error. I think that the problem is the number of users, because initially it worked.

Can I set to send the message to less users simultaneously?

I have the same problem. I have a community with 1.800 members and I get a timeout error (or something, just a blank page) when I send a System Message. It worked before.

The only way to solve that issue is to increase the time the script is allowed to run.

When you are on a shared server mayb the server is overloaded so sometimes it works sometimes not.
