What I'd like is that the notification of new messages (that for now is in the same Login/user box of CB), doesnt require to refresh the page.

Is it possible to do it already?

I can add or edit some code lines to the files if necessary, if you tell me what to do...i just cant code it on my own

Of course I have read the thread

But then you said:

I already added the server part in uddeIM 1.2 (trunk):
domain.de/index.php?option=com_uddeim&task=ajaxGetNewMessages
returns the number of new messages, e.g. "12".

So I thought that somehow it was possible to edit files and do it now already.

Nevermind, thanks anyway.

Maybe I should have written "server part" in bold.

This would be a great addition.

The reason an Ajax notifier is helpful is many people, myself included, go from page to page with extended periods of time on each page and many time I just stay on the front page while working on other things. The Ajax notifier keeps me from having to refresh every few minutes.

The Ajax notifier was one of the really cool things about JIM although that was the only thing it had on UddeIM.

UddeIM is indispensable now.

Hello slabbi
Its a while since I have been here and you were very helpfull to me when I was having problems with the messaging system.
At the time I also wanted a way of auto checking for messages.
I have had a friend of mine modify mod_uddeim please see the attched image amendments are that you can now
1) specify text for when you have a message
2) specify text for no messages
3) add a picture for message recived
4) add a picture for no messages

And the really usfull bit is specify intervals to check for messages this works staying on the same page but does not refresh the page just alerts you when a message is recived.

I have been using this now for about 4 weeks with over 30 registered users with no problems and for me and my users this has really amde a difference to what was already a fantastic system.

As so many people want this facility I have no objections to making it available, but firstly I would like you to take a look at it and give your opinion / feedback. If you are intereasetd please let me know how to send the file to you.

Secondly as this was modified by a friend of mine I will not be able to offer any support for the mod it's a zip file that just uploads using the standard Joomla uploader. I installed com_uddeim11 which installed like a dream the uploaded the modified mod_uddeim and emabled it all with no problem.

Any way please let me know if you would like to comment on it.
Cheers
for now
Nick
