nice!
This may sound really dumb, but is there anyway to embed a shoutbox?
or mini chat room?

No, uddeIM as a PMS is not designed for that purpose.

Actually I was here looking for an answer to the same question, the "missing send button" Just to let you know my experiance, I did find that running my cursor over the entire page looking for the link that it did pop out on hover, but just as a box. I would have thought it would also have the word send in the box but doesn't. I hadn't tried any of the other themes yet but will. I went into the back end looking for the missing code also but was not confident that I had found the right line so thought I would ask here.

Another point, when you pull up the users list it looks blank on the surface, ordinary users of a forum migth not think to look futher so if I can make a suggestion, would be nice to have the fisrt contact on the list at least visible to cause someone to look farther.

Thanks all

the section of code in components/com_uddeim/templates/default/css/uddeim.css (and uddeim-ie.css)
that controls this is...
[code:1]#uddeim-writeform input.button {
font-family: Arial, Helv, Helvetica, "MS Sans Serif", "Sans Serif";
font-size: 11px;
background: blue;

border: 1px solid #c0c0c0;

}[/code:1]
You'll find this between lines 377 & 384 roughly.
In my case I made it "blue" which shows up nicely as the text is white.

the problem with the "show users" button is that the first entry is blank.

That is not a problem. When you allow to select multiple users you can clear the input field when you select the first (the "empty") entry.
