Thanks for the help... turns out my cPanel with my hosting company in the US - JustHost - has something weird going on with their code editor in their file manager. After extracting the original file from the package and adding the "s" to /forum/recent/ link, and only the "s" with notepad++ and uploading that file to the server, everything is working...
I normally use Homesite for editing all my files at home, but when I'm not, I usually just use the code editor in my file manager on my servers cPanel and never had any issues - this is the first time I have ever encountered this issue. Just goes to show - you CAN learn something new every day!
