[Solved] French accents mess up words despite UTF-8

Hi,

I'm building a bilingual site (French and English). Unfortunately, titles in uddeIM that contain accents are getting messed up: i.imgur.com/Mpphi6A.png

Other text in French is showing properly on my site: i.imgur.com/mvu7zlw.png

Also, in the uddeIM System settings, all is set to UTF-8: i.imgur.com/dYZpmJH.png

I'd appreciate if somebody could point me in the right direction how to sort this out.

It seems that the french language file has been messed. Please visit my dev page. You will find a corrected language file there.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. It's different now, but accents still won't show.

I downloaded the file from here:
www.slabihoud.de/software/id4004.htm

And I replaced these two files on my server:
./administrator/components/com_uddeim/language.utf8/french.php
./administrator/components/com_uddeim/language/french.php

It looks different now, but instead of the characters with accents I get question marks:
