Images and templates not accessible?

I installed the English only version due to my upload limits and then uploaded the templates afterwards as per the instructions in the FAQ.

I get the following error when I try to save any changes:
Critical Error: Failed to write to configuration file

So I looked at the FAQ and did exactly what it said and changed the permissions to 766 but I still get the same error.

When I go into my inbox there appears to be no template at all, and no images.

When I try and access the images directly I get a 403 forbidden error.

I uninstalled uddeIM and reinstalled it using the full version instead of the english only version and success!

Though changing the admin permissions still hasn't changed anything

"j16_english_only" is not for Joomla 2.5, so it cannot work.

Your Joomla setup change to be very strange. You have installed Joomla in a sub-folder which is not recommended. I guess that the .htaccess in the root folder is in conflict with the one in the sub-folder. And also the DocumentRoot is not set correctly.

Please setup your server correctly, install Joomla correctly, then try to install 3rd party components.
