Message Timestamp was created by drdehart
We're seeing this problem on uddeim 2.5 and 2.7: the message timestamp is off by 8-hrs (showing GMT instead of GMT-8). If we open the user account in the Joomla User Manager and save it (don't change anything), then log the user out and log back in. The timestamps are corrected. Of course, we don't want to have to do this to every user - can you suggest a corrective procedure?

UddeIM uses the timezone a user has set in his profile.
Note that uddeIM always stores UTC+0 and calculates the local time from the user's profile settings.

right, but here is the scenario:

1. Message received is time-stamped GMT+0;
2. We check the user profile (Joomla User Manager): User's time zone is GMT+8;
3. We re-save the user profile;
4. User logs out and then back in (to clear the user session);
2. Message received is now time-stamped GMT+8.

In other words, uddeim is not reading the user's time zone to be the same as the user manager displays it unless the user's profile is re-saved.

Sounds to be a bug in Joomla. The time stamp is saved in the database when a new message is created and only read after that. UddeIM gets the correct user timezone using Joomla framework which seems to return different values when you have changed the user profile.

I was afraid you'd say that. It was our suspicion as well. Thanks!
