Username being used in Private Messages

Because I do not want my users to worry about a username I am trying to use real name throughout. Being concerned about duplicate real names I decided to use CB Auto Actions plugin to add a suffix from another field to the username generated at registration. Works well.

However, when using UddeIM I find that the username is appearing when I use the option in the menu to 'Send Private Message'. I have Realname set as the preference in the UddeIM config but this seems only to show for the list of users that can be selected. Also, when the notification email is received, it says "Hi, [username]" rather than their real name (ie. the substitution for %you% is not there real name as expected).

Help required please.

%you% contains the realname or username depending on the settings.

I do not think that this feature is broken. I will have a look.

I have 'Show Realnames' set in UddeIM config yet when I use the CB menu to send a message it shows the username in the 'To' field and the email notification says 'Hi [username]' rather than their real name.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Sending a PM works fine and shows the correct name.

Sending a message via E-Mail is done by CB, so it might show something else.

Okay - I'll keep trying and see whether I can figure out what is wrong. After a little experimentation it appears it might have something to do with disabling the CB menu - have you had any experience of an issue there before?
