[using uddeim 2.5]
Hi, my language of the site is german and I have some users with special caracters ä ö ü in their names. (for example: Testpersönä)
When I want to send a pms to this person, I go to my users list and look for his name.
Here the name is written ok: Testpersönä
Like that I open his profile. His name is written ok.
Then I choose send a pms in menu (or the link send a pms). Here is To: with the username written wrong: Testpersönä
Now I have the problem, I can't send to this person.
So I use the userlist in this window to choose this person again: I find it written ok:
Testpersönä. I choose this. Now the name is correct in To: and I can send the PMS.
The PMS himself is written ok: Testpersönä
But when uddeim sends me the Message: it's wrong: Testpersönä.

Because this are names it's not a solution to say to this person, "you can't use your name, because you have a wrong name"

So I need an other solution. Please help.

Please keep in mind while we integrate with UddeIM we are not its developers. Slabbi is better able to help you with your UddeIM issues. Please see the below UddeIM forums.

Seams there is some sort of problem with how the usernames are cleaned perhaps.

Sorry I put it in professional member, because I thought it will come automaticly to UddeIM. Can you move that there? Or shall I write the same thing there?

Please ensure that your template uses UTF8 and also your Joomla tables are UTF8 encoded (on some systems they are not).

In uddeIM backend (system tab) check if the used charset for the language file AND for the encoding is set to UTF8.

[SOLVED]

check if the used charset for the language file AND for the encoding is set to UTF8

That was it, thanks! I had to change this to UTF-8
I was irritated because the notification says, that the charset (ISO-8859-1) is good for use with german.
