The organisation whose web-site I am working on has users who are members of various pre-defined groups. Any user may be a member of more than one group.

I would like to use uddeIM to enable users to choose any one of the groups they belong to and send a PM to all members of that group. It is also important to prevent users creating their own groups which would allow the whole setup to quickly descend into chaos.

uddeIM does this brilliantly. I have set it up so that 'Compose' creates a blank email form with a drop-down list of contact groups (see below). However it also provides a 'contacts' link which enables the user to access he full user list to create new groups (chaos reigns).

I am wondering if it is possible to restrict this link and make if available only to administrators, who would maintain the groups.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

John Tennock

Out of box it is not possible. You can modify the code of course (the function that displays the list can be found in includes.php).

Thanks Slabbi,

Not being experienced in messing with code I am always wary of doing this, but I have ventured there occasionally without catastrophe.

Assuming it works OK, that small change will make all the difference.

Cheers,

John T

Hmmmm!
I have searched this file

\components\com_uddeim\includes.php

but my programming expertise is not up to the task. I wonder if anyone can guide me about how to hack this.
I just want to eliminate the 'Create new contact list' link at the bottom of this table.

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

John T
