We have a GJ events menu item showing all events. It has a search box. The search itself works correctly, however pressing the browser back button after a search doesn't work as expected. I would expect it to return to the events page as it was before the search, ie. no search term and displaying all events. However, it appears that it simply re-executes the same search which of course returns the same result. A second press of the back button returns to the previous page, immediately prior to the events page in the history, as expected.

Search is a user state change. You have to clear the search input to clear the search. Basically all of our searches work this way and to a degree so do Joomla's (e.g. backend or frontend article category filtering). It's possible we'll change this in the future, but storing search in user state ensures their search will be reliably applied.

Thanks for the explanation. I think the issue is simply that the behaviour is non-obvious to a user, regardless of the technical merit. It would be more obvious if the search terms remained visible in the search box after pressing back. At the moment the user has no direct indication of state preserved other than by inference from the results and these appear inconsistent with the displayed search terms ie. none.

The search input should still have their search term in it when they press back since it should populate from user state. Will look into this further and see if something is going wrong with event page searching.

Ok, was able to confirm event searching isn't working as expected when viewing an events page. Am working on a fix now.
