Video compressing

Hello!
I've been trying to make a script for video compressing, working with ffmpeg. The script intercepts the video during upload, compresses it, and ahould replace the uploaded one with the compressed one. The first part seems to work: the video is intercepted, reduced, and saved in a folder. What is not working is the swapping of the uploaded video. Basically, in the backend, the video is the one I uploaded, not the reduced one. I noticed that videos in CB are renamed and placed in a folder like:
/var/www/html/images/comprofiler/plug_cbgallery/168/videos/
except that the number (168) is random (is it?), and there are many numeric folders.
What I am asking is: is thera criteria for assigning the folder and file namer? How could I solve or work around the problem of the script not overwriting?
 

CB Gallery 3.0.0 that's currently in development will have ffmpeg support. So if you can wait a bit longer I'd recommend just waiting instead of having to implement this yourself.

Regarding your question. The number isn't random it's the user id of the user that uploaded the file.

I've been waiting but I've seen a new release a couple ok weeks ago that didn't touch it, so I guess it will take long for the new feature... Will it?

CB Gallery 3.0.0 is a complete rewrite into stored galleries (similar to CB Activity into stored streams). It's roughly half way done. We don't provide timeframes here, but I wouldn't expect it to take longer than a few more weeks at this point unless I run into problems. I do have to of course frequently stop work to handle support requests, etc.. so there's a lot of unknowns and is why we don't provide timeframes. If you need this now then I suppose you'll need to implement it yourself though.

So if it's a matter of weeks, and not months, I think it's worth the wait!

Yup, I hope to be done by the end of next month at the latest, but we'll see. A lot of this will depend on what kind of problems I run into while implementing new features like ffmpeg. For existing features it's mostly just moving their logic around and cleaning it up a bit. Redoing all the template files is also a bit of work as it's currently using the only class->function structure and the new usage is more in line with Joomla layouts to allow support for per-gallery templating. I'll still be handling support and minor releases of all other products during this time though so that does consume some development time as well.
