Most of our events are highly weather dependent. We need to advertise them well in advance, otherwise nobody will save the date, but plans can't be finalised until a few days before. The event may or may not be suitable for everyone depending on the weather, so it's not ideal having people sign-up a long time in advance. We'd therefore like to be able to advertise events but control when the event is available to sign-up, ie. when the "attend event" button is presented. A manual control would mostly be fine for us, ie. edit an existing event and check a box to begin sign-up. In some cases an option to automatically begin sign-up at a future date would be useful.

It doesn't look like this functionality is present, but would this be a straightforward enhancement? Is there some workaround already possible?

There's no functionality for that at this time. Will review adding an option for "No Attendance" for events that toggles off the attendance feature for a specific event. They'd have to manually toggle it on when events can be attended though.

Ok, this is now available in latest GJ Events integration. A new parameter for events will let you toggle attendance On/Off.
