J4 displays single quote as HTML code

The same database/same CB code that worked fine in J3 now displays the single quote ( whatever that scan code is on Linux ) as the HTML code - which I can't type here without it getting properly displayed but it's ampersand poundsign  039 semicolon.

I went thru all punctuation marks and the same thing happens to the double quote and the ampersand.

I see this problem in comments on my connections in manage connections tab. Just to be clear, I can type those characters and they appear fine until I save the page and it is refreshed from the database.

Can you provide a screenshot of the issue? We don't apply any formatting to connection descriptions beyond stripping HTML and htmlspecialchars on display.

OK, attached. The All Punctuation one is mostly in order on the key board, but you can tell what the other 2 characters are.

If those HTML codes were just given to the browser to render, they would look OK.

I looked everywhere else CB displays text or comments and don't see the problem there.  I also verified Joomla articles I can type single quote or the HTML code and it displays correctly as the single quote "'".

Looks like a bug in CB specifically with connection messages double escaping. Have created a bug ticket to fix.

This is now fixed in latest CB build release. You'll have to edit and re-add your comments though as it was a double escaping issue during storage.
