CrossOrigin error was created by kdave321
Perhaps a browser update triggered this, but I am now getting errors like this in the Chrome console:

A preload for ' https://[my site] /components/com_comprofiler/plugin/templates/default/font/fontawesome-webfont.woff2?v=4.7.0'' is found, but is not used because the request credentials mode does not match. Consider taking a look at crossorigin attribute.

I see this with other icon files I'm trying to load too. Afaik, I am not declaring CROSSORIGIN attribute anywhere so I don't know where the incompatibility would be.

Then it says "resource was preloaded...but not used within a few seconds from the window's load event... and repeats above error about woff2 files many more times.

Firefox is a little different:
Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://[my-site]/fonts/MaterialIcons.woff2 . (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing). Status code: 200.

--> oddly even tho I clear cache, the MaterialIcons seem to be loaded anyway.

I see this set: .htaccess:    Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*"

I guess I am confused why requesting a file from my own site would be "crossorigin"

CB doesn't use or load any external resources. They're all local. So MaterialIcons.woff2 is not coming from CB, but likely your Joomla template or 3rd party extension.

As for the preload notice it maybe due to a live_site issue in configuration.php. Ensure that setting is empty as you probably have crossorigin access to resources. For example if you access you site without "www", but live_site is configured with "www" then you'll get this issue.

Yes, we messaged about this before. I actually had live_site empty in Production but not in Dev. I removed it in Dev now also and still see the error messages.

I actually see error messages about all 3 font files I am trying to load - not just fontawesome. But now having changed live_site, just 1 remains.

I think this is new in Chrome. As seconds go by after a page load it starts spewing out dozens of repeating errors like:

The resource fonts.gstatic.com/s/roboto/v30/KFOlCnqEu92Fr1MmEU9fBBc4.woff2 was preloaded using link preload but not used within a few seconds from the window's load event. Please make sure it has an appropriate `as` value and it is preloaded intentionally.

, but none for CB.  I'm not telling the fonts to preload. How did you stop that?

If it's not coming from CB then it's likely Joomla template or 3rd party extension is loading something in while setting its preload attribute. Try switching to default Joomla template to see if it goes away as that's the easiest way to check if it's the template.

In my searching, the error is supposed to apply when you preload a font from one path and then try to load it again with a different path. I am not doing that however and it appears to be a bug in this version of Chrome. No such errors on Firefox.

Thanks.

Funny, yet sad. Another error message on a different page with the same CB Font:

downloadable font: Glyph bbox was incorrect (glyph ids 33 55 62 81 82 83 84 87 88 89 90 112 119 120 123 139 159 162 164 166 178 184 185 217 218 272 273 274 275 279 281 284 290 291 292 309 310 319 321 323 326 329 330 331 332 333 334 339 341 347 349 351 352 353 354 357 358 361 366 367 370 371 414 431 436 444 445 458 460 464 465 483 505 508 511 514 516 517 518 520 521 538 539 546 568 574 579 580 585 586 594 596 599 602 603 616 618 622 627 629 630 633 634 638 643 645 651 654 665 675 685 686 688 691) (font-family: "FontAwesome" style:normal weight:400 stretch:100 src index:1) source: https://[my-site]/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/templates/default/font/fontawesome-webfont.woff2?v=4.7.0

This is in Firefox v125 on Linux.
