[SOLVED] Profile Update was created by trlbldr
A user is experiencing a very confusing issue when trying to update the User Profile. Specifically, after successful login and access to his Profile (login is set to open the logged-in user's Profile upon successful login), the user clicks Edit | Update Your Profile and then clicks
  • the Portrait tab
  • Upload New Image
  • Select New Image (browsing to the desired image)
  • Update
This is the strange thing: CB / Joomla returns a 404 Not Found (Sorry we couldn't find what you're looking for) error.
I cannot find any explanation or configuration that would cause this.
By the way - I haven't been able to replicate this. Of course, mine is the Super Admin account.
Please Help!
Thanks,
Don White

Create a regular registered user account to test. Enable debug mode and maximum error reporting in Joomla global configuration. Then perform the steps the user did to see if any errors output.

I setup a new user account and reset Error Reporting to Maximum.
After that, nothing worked in the public front-end or the admin backend - OutOfMemory and other errors flooded the page displays. Changing the PHP Memory maximum in Cpanel didn't help.
I turned off Error Reporting and Debug in system config and those errors ceased.

What's happening (using the new user account) is that, when I select Update Your Profile and try to change either the Canvas or the Portrait image and click Update, the 404 Error appears because the system looks for a page with the URL 'saveuseredit.html'. To my knowledge, no such distinct page exists.

File Attachment:

File Name: StackTrace...edit.txt
File Size:10 KB

That's all I know, and it ain't much.

I am grateful for any suggestion and insight into this matter. I use CB on one other website - one with over 2,000 site users - and have had no issue such as this.

Joomla version? PHP version? Only thing I see is your Joomla reCaptcha plugin is failing to validate, which is being called from CB AntiSpam since it's set to use Joomla's captcha plugin. Are you using captcha in profile update? If so turn off the captcha field for profile edit and see if that helps.

Site Info:

Joomla version: 4.2.6
PHP version: 8.0.26
Database: MySQLi 10.3.25-MariaDB

1. I don't find an element in the CB AntiSpam plugin for to change or turn off ReCaptcha for Profile Update.
2. In User Management | Edit User Permissions there is no field for "Edit Own". I changed the Edit permission field to "Allowed".
3. I tried to modify Edit rights in CB Plugin Permissions but received this error message: "Failed to save Plugin Permissions CB Core because: Field 'title' doesn't have a default value". I don't see a "title field.

Thank you for your suggestions, Krileon. What else should I do?

cbantispam_captcha field within CB > Field Management can be set to display on profile edit for profile edit captcha. My best guess is you have it enabled on profile edit.
