Added Fields to Field Group - Now Not Visible in Profile, Only in Editor

The field group is defined to be visible in both the profile and profile edit, yet as soon as I added the fields to the group, they are no longer visible when viewing the profile. Is that how it's supposed to work? I'm sure I'm overlooking something.

Yes, that's how that's supposed to work. Once a field is a part of a field group it can't be used on its own anymore and will only be usable and visible within the field group. It tells you this directly in the description of the Fields parameter in the field group field.

Still just getting my feet wet with Field Groups...

Is there a way to show a group as a table but with no heading?? I want to use the group to arrange related fields side-by-side, so like a checkbox field to the right of a calendar field, and just have that. No table headings or formatting. Just two fields side-by-side. Is this possible and, if so, how is it done?

Ensure CB Field Groups is up to date then under Parameters > Display set "Edit Template" to "Compact" and "Edit Field Format" to "None". That'll give just a raw side by side output. If you want the table display, but no headers you'll need to use CSS to hide them or create a custom template for CB Field Groups.

Is there a way to do this WITHOUT using a field group? Field groups totally change the database schema for the fields in the group so querying it is no longer the same. I think I would break to much backend processing if I went this route, but I'd still like to have the Yes/No radio button field to the right of the text entry field. It just belongs there.

Only other way is to try and use CSS to reposition the fields. There is no simple solution for what you're wanting except to use CB Field Groups.
