[#7829] GroupJive and Kunena

I am working on getting the GroupJIve installed and configured. Most of it went in smoothly but I am running into issues with the Forum Configuration. In the Group tabs the Forum option doesn't show up and when I try to follow the instruction in the Primer I am not given the option to add any categories from the drop-down category menu. Likewise, when I go into the GroupJive categories I see the integration tab but the category dropdown only has the default "New Category" and I don't see anything else. Whether it's my K2, base Joomla or GroupJive I have categories in each one but I don't see any options.

Typically you don't select a forum category there. That's for backend management to override the forum category assignment. CB GroupJive Forums will automatically create the forum category when the group is saved. If the group existed before CB GroupJive Forums simply resave the group to create its forum category. There does appear to be a bug with that dropdown though as it's using the wrong function for category select and have added a bug ticket to fix.

Well, I think the dropdown menu is fixed. I now see the entire list of categories. Thank you for that.

Having said that, I simply don't know how the JivGroups access forums. If, as you say, the Forum isn't listed under the Group tabs then where is the forum entry created? How do the group members get to the private forum in Kenena?

You don't create anything in Kunena for groups themselves or configure the forum assignment manually in your groups. When the group is created it will create it's Kunena forum category automatically. It also handles the access checks automatically. All you need to configure is a top level category where all these group forum categories will be stored and once created you need to specify it in CB GroupJive Forums parameters. If the groups existed before doing this resave the groups afterwards and it will generate their forum categories. The group forums are accessed from their forums tab in the group, but should also be visible to users in the kunena category index page.

Fantastic! I now have the dropdown menu for Kenena, made a group for Groups and assigned it. Went into an existing Groups setting and turned off Forums and then turned it back on. It now shows up on the tabs! Thanks!
