Our Membership Secretary has inadvertently upgraded a member's active subscription to a 7-day free subscription, the latter being non-renewable. When he tried to 'upgrade' the subscription back to the original paid annual subscription it was not in the list of Upgrade Options; it appears only in the Past Subscriptions with the options to Delete the history or Unsubscribe/Delete the free subscription.
How can we reset the subscription - effectively 'undo' the erroneous upgrade?

Just go to Admin CB user management, edit user, checkmark "Unsubscribe" for that subscription and save profile. It will revert to previous subscription, and re-activate it if still in validity period.
