Hi,

I am a visually impaired Systems Admin for a site that runs Joomla and CB 2.2.0. Everything is up to date. I use a screen reader called JAWS for reading the screen without the use of a mouse. When I go to the Admin area of my site. I am unable to interact with the form controls that are drop down/edit boxes. I can't for example add usergroups to a user list. I can't easily select mroe than one item in the user manager under editting a user to cadd the user to more than one group. Can we not have the lists be a diferent type of form control?

Thanks for your assistance.

Billy

I've no idea why you can't interact with them. They're standard browser select elements, which don't require any special attributes to be accessible. Is there any form of debugging tools on your screen reader that's able to better explain why it can't interact with those elements?

There is no debugging tools that I know of. I've tried NVDA which is free and the other is JAWS. My guess is that for some reason the control doesn't allow for keyboard access. There is something different about that element vs a normal dropdown box.

There's nothing different about that select element. It's a standard select element with multiple attribute. Are all elements doing this or just the select elements?

It appears that it is all the Select Elements. Dropdown elements in Joomla Core do not behave the same way and they work fine. Not sure if looking at WCAG 2.0 will help but it is a thought. The screen reader sees the element but I cant interact with it to make selections.

Here is a tool that would help test CB against the most common of screen readers.
