We have one member who is always online, 24 hours a day. I have kicked him off several times and within a half hour he is logged on again.
I'm curious as to how he is doing this; possibly a bot to refresh the browser at intervals? I know this was common back in the day with AOL, but I haven't heard of this recently.
Why would someone an make an effort to do this?
Could this be a security issue?
Are they an actual person or a bot? If they're a bot block and ban their account. If they're an actual user they could just have auto-login setup in their password manager and if logged out next page load would log them back in (I have this setup for nearly every site I use regularly). As for the within half an hour he's logged back in issue he may just be browsing at the time you're logging him out or he may have a browser extension set to refresh at a set interval.

Yes, this is a paid human member. Unless he keeps the same hours as I do, I doubt he is manually logging on every time I've booted him off. His login time is always within a half hour of the current time, but this is probably due to the 30 minute session time I have set.
So, there is probably nothing nefarious going on then. On the plus side, he makes it look like there is always member activity on the site!
I've no idea why they keep logging back in like that. Maybe they just never close their browser tab and refreshes it now and again. You'd have to reach out to that specific user and ask them is best I can suggest, but if they're confirmed real user it's not likely to be doing any harm to your site and would just let them be.
