Yes, you can install and use CB as well as all of our products on Joomla 4. Any remaining issues we have been fixing as they're reported.

If you migrated from Joomla 3 the old search component should still be there and work. For new installs of Joomla 4 you won't be able to search. If you define us being Joomla 4 ready exclusively because of search then sure I guess we're not Joomla 4 ready.

As I explained above smart search cannot work with CB. We have too many access controls that Joomlas smart search does not work with. How would you users feel about their profile data being leaked because we couldn't check privacy settings on search? It just doesn't work for us.

I'll be exploring this further in a future release. Currently it looks like the only option is to index everything then on onFinderResult event loop through every row and remove rows that don't have permissions, but this is incredibly clunky and will result in empty search result sets.

Thanks for clearing this up. In my case, I'll be upgrading from J3 to J4 and can continue to use the old search function. I was just curious as I was setting up smart search and got stuck.

I've opened a discussion about it on github just now as well to get some idea of what direction we need to go to support smart search.

Hopefully we can have something figured out eventually, but for now my previous responses are best we can do.
