It's fixed in latest CB 2.1.2+build.2017.04.14.15.08.41.3bf553c4c. Using an input based calendar mode will properly display as empty now. Your issue is likely entirely separate from the bug I found. Most likely you're trying to synchronize a non-standard formatted date to a date field which won't work. Try synchronizing to a text field. Have added a feature ticket to review pre-parsing social sites date fields into actual storeable date formats to allow this kind of synchronization to work.

1. Actually, when I installed the new package on my MS Windows-based localhost, I got the following error message.

Warning: file C:\xampp\htdocs\web\NewAussie\joomla/administrator/components/com_comprofiler/pluginsfiles.tgz still exists. This is probably due to the fact that first installation step did not complete, or second installation step did not take place. If you are sure that first step has been performed, you need to execute second installation step before using CB. You can do this now by clicking here: please click here to continue next and last installation step.

2. When I clicked on (You can do this now by clicking here: please click here to continue next and last installation step.), I got the following error message
http://localhost/web/newaussie/joomla/administrator/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&view=finishinstallation
You are not authorized to view this page!

3. I tried to reinstall, I got no errors.

However, the date fields still show today's date (on the registration page - without trying to use CB Connect). I wonder if the installation was actually successful. How can I check if it was? Which files should have the new code, what is the new code?

Your installation never completed for whatever reason. Try again from Joomlas extension manager.

I installed it using (Extensions -> Manage -> Install -> Upload Package File). Is there any other way of doing it?

It says:
Your version is 2.1.2+build.2017.04.14.15.08.41.3bf553c4c
Latest version: 2.1.2+build.2017.04.14.15.08.41.3bf553c4c

What is the script (or one of them), which has changed in this release?

Ok, looks like there's an issue with the latest build missing this fix for some reason. We're looking into this now. Once we've our build process fixed the next build will contain the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.
