The gallery pop-up is only showing the images that are one the same pagination as the one you are currently looking at. Here is what I have done.
In plugin set the pagination for photos as active so that only five show up before pagination (would it be possible to turn off pagination if one is looking at albums, or at least set a different pagination?)
Then I clicked on an album and uploaded a ton of photos and then viewed them inside the album (gallery pop-up showed up with photos showing). I then pressed on NEXT and it cycled through only five photos as in the pagination I had set. it would make much more sense if the photos cycled through the whole album in pop-up view.

It's only going to show the paginated ones when scrolling left or right. It can't show images that it doesn't know even exists. The query stops it from grabbing more rows for performance reasons than the paging limit. You can turn off pagination for media within the galleries parameters under its Media > Paging tab. There's no separate paging parameters for album media.
Have added a feature ticket to add parameters to control paging for album media so non-album media and album media can have different paging settings.
