[SOLVED] [#4513] How to disable cbsubs_currencies and resulting cbsubs_history table bloat was created by boyjahq
I use only Japanese Yen as my cbsubs currency. I have Multi-currency mode: Secondary Currency set to OFF. But the History function continues to fill up with exchange rate information. This causes the table to grow unnecessarily while filling the History with numerous records that I don't want to see. I have tried emptying the table cbsubs_currencies but it automatically fills up again with 32 different currencies and the exchange rate info continues to be constantly updated. Please tell me how to make this stop.

I am using Joomla 3.4.5 and newest CBSubs

You can't disable the currency exchange rate updating at this time. We've a pending feature ticket to implement turning off updating of exchange rates in a later release.

Stumbled over this in search for what's been asked for in the thread's subject.

Obviously, there's been no development since. So, here an interim solution that works for me, and might do for others as well: use a simple Auto Action to delete the relevant rows from the history table.

Triggers: None
Type: Query
Action > Query:
Code:
DELETE FROM `#__cbsubs_history` WHERE `table_name` = '#__cbsubs_currencies';

Use a CRON job to fire it daily, and life is good. B)

However, yes, it'd be nice to have a yes/no switch for turning on/off exchange rate updating; just as it would be nice to be able to manage the currencies: e.g. setting base currency, (un-)publishing currencies, adding more/others...
Maybe one day. ;)

HI there

Please can you let us know whether this turn-off feature is available yet? We do not use multiple currencies and the amount of ECb etc updating is causing spikes in our server resource usage possibly at this time so it would be good to eliminate this.
