I want a user to add links in their contact information section, like their facebook pages, twitter link and website links.

However when I add a new web address field the link is not clickable (not a hyperlink)

The output is: www.domainname.co.uk|*|Site name

Please advise on how I can add a new field so the url will be a hyperlink,

Also would be nice if I could add an icon for the user so a facebook icon then a link to their facebook page.

Are you outputting the link with a substitution? Normal display of a web address field shouldn't display as such. If outputting with a substitution you can't use [FIELD_NAME] as it has no formatting and will need to use [cb:userfield field="FIELD_NAME" /].

How are you displaying the field? To display links simply create a new web address field within CB > Field Management. The user then edits the field from profile edit and supplies a URL (and name if you have hypertext enabled). If you enabled hypertext, let a user set a web address, then disabled it you're going to get an odd display like you're seeing and user will need to edit their field to remove the hypertext.
