Help modifying Login module text

Help modifying Login module text was created by justmebg
I need to shorten three of the text strings that are shown in the CB Login module to fit it into my template, and I am having a hard time figuring out where to do this. I have looked for these files in the language folders and can't seem to find anything for this module. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I need to change (screenshot attached):
"You have X new private messages" to "X New Messages" and
"You have no new private messages" to "My Messages"
"You have x pending connection requests" to "x Pending Connections"

I downloaded CB 1.4 English language plugin from here:
forge.joomlapolis.com/projects/lan-cb-en/files

Then I see the following:

I modified the default file - will this get overwritten when I upgrade CB? If that's the case, then I will want to use the English language plugin, correct?

Yes, any changes to default files will be lost on upgrade.

then I will want to use the English language plugin, correct?

Yes, as the english plugin only upgrades if you manually re-install it.
