All About CBSubs was created by ernienet
I had previously dismissed CBSubs because I had to buy a license for each site, which was cost-prohibitive because my clients do not have budgets big enough for individual licenses like CBSubs required.

But I'm building a site now which I had originally planned to use Akeeba Subs, which I just learned they discontinued, and now need to replace it before launch. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you have a GPL plan now.

So I've been reading all about CBSubs (sadly only one review on the Joomla JED), and have been trying to view the video at www.joomlapolis.com/cbsubs-videos . It won't launch in Firefox, Chrome or IE, so I'm not able to view it. Apparently, it would answer a lot of my questions:

1. I'm currently an Advanced Member. Is this separate from the $201 price for CBSubs? Can they be merged into a single payment/upgrade? I see that Developer Membership includes CBSubs, but I don't need all those additional benefits.

2. Does CBSubs include "Free" subscription definitions? My clients are required to provide free membership (by federal law), and cannot withhold content for a fee. They can charge for other memberships with benefits, like event discounts, a profile listing, etc., but there needs to be a free level.

3. Did CBSubs become CBSubs GPL, or are they separate products? I'm a little confused by this, and can't seem to find anything on the site that explains it clearly.

4. If CBSubs GPL is a CB Plugin, I assume it does not behave like a Joomla component - would that be an accurate assumption?

Thank you for your attention to these questions. I'll move on to other parts of the current client project until I hear back from you.

Ernie

Our CBSubs proprietary product has been discontinued for over a year now in favor of the new CBSubs GPL product.

See relevant news item here:

Great.

Reason for small number of reviews is that CBSubs is basically hidden on the JED and not cross listed as it should be.

Use this link for videos:

No upgrade other than going to Developer membership.

2. Does CBSubs include "Free" subscription definitions? My clients are required to provide free membership (by federal law), and cannot withhold content for a fee. You can create as many Free or Paid plans as you want.

See release announcement link I gave earlier.
It is a separate product. The old proprietary one has been discontinued and can no longer be purchased.

4. If CBSubs GPL is a CB Plugin, I assume it does not behave like a Joomla component - would that be an accurate assumption?

CBSubs GPL uses and requires Community Builder to be installed. It is a set of CB plugins along with a Joomla module and plugin.

In the backend it does have the look and field of a full component with direct access from the Joomla menu panel (using the CB Admin Navigation Joomla module that is included).

Thank you for your attention to these questions. I'll move on to other parts of the current client project until I hear back from you.

Just to be open ...
If you have multiple customers that you will be installing CBSubs GPL on you should really purchase a Developer membership as it includes support for all your customer installations.

The CBSubs GPL individual purchase only includes support for all your installations.

Hope I addressed all your questions.
