Moving to CB Subs was created by Holy Cow
I currently have a j1.0.x site with about 50 subscription based groups. I'd like to give each group an owner so that they can add/edit content themselves without the ability to see other groups content.

I'd like to move to CBsubs but need to know the following.

Each group would also need their own restricted forum, gallery and document management.

Is this possible?

HC
basic questions I know but I'm new to CB

Each group would also need their own restricted forum, gallery and document management.

This depends entirely on the extensions you use for such features. CBSubs doesn't add features to extensions that do not exist. In simplest of terms it is only access management.

An example is a you could have a Docman category that only a specific group can upload to it. You could then use CBSubs to add a user to that group based on their subscription using the CBSubs Docman integration. You could also instead of using the integration use CBSubs SQL Actions to perform a query and add a user as the owner of a Docman Category so only they could upload to it, etc...

You could also protect categories of a Forum component such as Kunena based on a users subscription using By URL Part protection as part of CBSubs Content integration.

More information on CBSubs can be found here .

thanks krileon,

At the moment I'm worried that CB Subs plus CB migth be like taking on a mamoth project, is it?

As a very Joomla savvy user but not a CB user, how long do you think it will take me to set up subscription based user 14 CB groups (Paid), Kuena forum with 14 restricted (paid) boards and then a further 14 Docman groups (paid).

I guess it's fairly obvious that I will have 14 or so groups, each member should have access to Kuena, CB groups and Docman, other members should not be able to access this at all.

In terms of time, how long should I budget in to install, setup and configure this...if it's possible?

David

I don't know, am sorry but do not know your work habits, skills, knowledge, etc.. I can not give you an accurate time for you to build the site. Perhaps 1 day with no issues, perhaps a week if more complicated configuration is needed. I simply don't know, sorry. I recommend reviewing the documentation for the quickest setup; referring to the documentation when needed.
