I need to make a field with customized content

Can anyone either give me advise or point me where to find information on how to make a field with ~completely~ customized content?
I need to insert not only php/sql code but also a customized output text.

The field will be read-only to users. is this possible with a field or must I make a plugin/tab. If so, where is any documentation on how make a plugin/tab?

OK i'm not sure if this made sense to anyone...


Basically I need a "read only" field added, it will have the same bit of php/sql/html code for every user. How can I do this?

EDIT: I think im making some progress by modifying the online status plugin
