Self Detonating Tabs

I think having a self-detonating tab would be a nice feature. Such for announcements or update news. the tab appears when there is a new item but disappears after the member reads the content. Anything like this currently or a work around to achieve this function?

Interesting concept ...

Why not just PM the news?

I thought about it. but if it's a special promotional ad and would like to give a member one chance to grab the product, having it in a pm won't help since the msg would be in a inbox or trash. I am after something that'll disappear permanently for members that have read or clicked the msg ad to download free promotional products.

permission problem - you should be able to upload now.

Sounds like a great idea, I would like to see something like too. I can just see how this could be used by for instance a sys admin who need to make some, let's say important server upgrade anouncements
