CB and K2 issues was created by yorweb
I have been having an interesting time over the last few days trying to set-up a Joomla website which has Community Builder as the front end user interface to the K2 extension. Unfortunately the proposed marriage of CB and K2 seems platonic at best.

Originally I wasn't aware that 2 of Community Builder's core plugins, CB Blogs and CB Articles, could actually handle K2 articles but the plugin chapter of the CB Primer manual was quite a revelation. Indeed I quickly configured both of those plugins and can now list articles (that I am the owner of) on the CB profile page with CB Blogs offering additionally functionality in that I both edit and delete K2 items.

However there are a number of issues.
1. The CB user's portrait/profile image is not displayed as the author image in the K2 article. Instead the default black silhouetteis displayed
2. When I edit a K2 item going through the link on CB Profile page (using the CB Blogs plugin), the title alias is changed with "-2" added at the end. As an example, this changes SEF URL
www.*******.co.uk/news/parmesan-smelly-de-normandie-and-stinking-camembert
to
www.*******.co.uk/news/parmesan-smelly-de-normandie-and-stinking-camembert-2

I am fairly sure these issues stem from K2 having it's own user system as I have found, via the magic of Google, other folks having similar problems but nothing recently. This leads me to believe that all these issues have been resolved and it's me who has not set-up his website correctly.

We've no control over this. K2 would need to integrate with CB to output that.

Probably a bug in the alias generating code. It shouldn't have regenerated that if the title didn't change though so adding a bug ticket to take a look for a later release.

Thanks for replying and after posting my original message, I asked one of my usual freelancers (PHP specialist) to take a look at it and he came up with a code hack as "K2 doesn't handle events". This basically involved changng all the instances within K2 which looked for author image within the K2 user table to instead use the Community Builder table. This works as both extensions have the same user id for that author although it's a hack and not really a long term solution.

K2 used to have an integration for CB for outputting CB avatars and the formatname field which linked to the CB profile. I'm unsure when they stopped supporting that though. At this point though I'm not sure there's much of a purpose for K2 anymore given how far Joomla content has come.
