No idea what you mean by subscription area. You mean your registration page is empty? Check configuration.php and ensure live_site is set to '' (empty) then ensure CB Core in CB > Plugin Management is public and published as well as the default template.

We use CB Paid Subscriptions to gate our pdf articles with an account. This is a sample URL archive dot foundationalmedicinereview dot com / subscribe.
I checked live_site and it is empty and I didn't find CB Core under Plugin Management but I found cbpaidsubsbot.
Also for context, we didn't build this site and only took over it when needed to be moved to a new domain. So we are pretty much new to this project.
I've no idea what versions you're using. I'm guessing everything maybe just significantly out of date. Before CBSubs went GPL it used a license, which had domain limits (I think we lifted those; I don't recall). Enable debug mode and maximum error reporting and see if you have any errors. Beyond that I recommend subscribing, updating everything, and posting in support forums if any issues persists.
